B/SS BioINN, a new initiative resulting from the collaboration between C.D. Fortuna K.E. and the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute. The aim of this initiative is to study the characteristics and/or conditions that occur during the race that might affect performance and impact on the health of the runners.

This collaboration has led to the launch of the TAUPADEKINN research project at this year's Behobia - San Sebastián (B/SS) 2024, in which we invite you to participate.

TAUPADEKINN

What is TAUPADEKINN?

It is an observational study that will analyse the relationship between the time spent running above the anaerobic threshold heart rate and the incidence of episodes requiring medical attention.

What is it for?

It will enable to study the relationship between the limits of the anaerobic threshold and episodes requiring medical attention, as well as to identify critical points along the route and other associated factors.

Who carries out TAUPADEKINN?

The study is being carried out between C.D. Fortuna K.E. and the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute.

When will it be carried out?

During the current B/SS 2024 edition.

Who can participate?

People who meet two access criteria:

  • Be registered in the B/SS as a runner.
  • Have a smart wearable device (watch, pulsometer) that allows you to monitor your heart rate during the race.

What does participation in TAUPADEKINN consist of?

Your participation requires your consent and commitment to:

  • Answer pre and post-race questionnaires.
  • Submit the results of your stress test, if you have one.
  • Submit the data recorded by your watch/device during the B/SS (no matter the brand).

How can I participate?

As a runner in this edition of the Behobia - San Sebastián, you will receive an email with the information about the study, from which you can accept participation in the study by filling out a short questionnaire.

30 November 2024 will be the last day for participants to send us their race data. Once this date has passed, the data collection phase of the study will be closed and we will move on to statistical analysis. We will then contact those who have taken part in the research project and send them a short personalised report with their results.

What will I get in return?

The satisfaction of having contributed to a research project for the improvement of the B/SS, and to the promotion and prevention of health and the fostering of sports practice. In addition, you will receive a brief personalised report with your data.
